Program Information

Complete this registration to book a Tryout for your swimmer(s).

The Summer Swim program runs for 6 weeks in July and August and provides an option for new swimmers to learn new skills and try-out the club in a smaller group size, while current UCRO swimmers can maintain their skills and aerobic foundation.

The Summer Swim Program lasts for 6 weeks. All practices are 1 hour in duration.

All swimmers are invited to attend optional unofficial swim meets. These one-day events take place on weekends at nearby outdoor pools (e.g. Prescott, Cardinal, Kemptville). These meets are a fun and relaxed introduction to competition.

River Otter Grassroots programs focus on building basic athletic movement in the water and aquatic skills, such as: rhythmic breathing, gliding, turns & diving/back starts.

As the swimmer progresses they continue to build the fundamental technique in all four strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

Swimmers also begin to build more aerobic capacity through games and fun races.

River Otters Performance Stream is focused on preparing and developing competing swimmers of various ages. This is delivered through structured progression, regular meets (competition), dryland training sessions, mental skills training, nutrition workshops and higher expectations.

Overall commitment to swimming and to the club increases in the Performance stream. This includes Bronze through National programs.

The Development Stream is for swimmers 13 years and older who want to get better, stay fit, and enjoy swimming without the pressure of competitions. It is ideal for lifelong swimming goals and allows more time for other activities while staying connected to the club.

There is less commitment to swimming compared to the Performance Stream. For example, there is no season-long commitment and no fundraisisng or parent volunteering commitments. This includes the House League and Masters programs.
